Club scullers

‘Carers’ of boats are published on Ted’s spread sheet.

These were the terms of use recommended and operated in 1997 to 2001 but have largely fallen into abeyance. I recomend their resurrection.

 

YOU SHOULD EITHER BE COACHED BY AN IA LEVEL COACH OR HAVE PASSED AN ASSESSMENT TEST BEFORE YOU TAKE OUT ANY CLUB SCULLER

 

Terms and condition of use of Club scullers

Alpha, Beta, Gamma [restricted wooden] - use Club macons either grey ones in bay 1 or wooden ones

Users

Any paid up rowing member under qualified instruction [ARA instructors award or above]

Any paid up rowing member who in the opinion of the qualified instructor IN WRITING is competant so to do on their own - with a copy lodged with Hon Sec rowing in the Rowing office cabinet - may use between  Chiswick and Putney bridge ONLY during normal busy rowing hours when there are plenty of others around to effect rescue if needed. NO sculling at odd hours on own.

Any paid up rowing member who has more than 6 rowing points AND the above certificate may use these boats on their own in daylight but are advised to try to avoid, as much as possible, lone outings

Originally, this sculler was bought for racing only. It should not be regarded as a 'Club' boat for general club use but, inivitably, some such use has and is ocurring BUT scullers racing will get priority.

Terms to be agreed in writing [by user signing a copy of this]

 

1. £5 returnable deposit for a key to lock and chain

2. £50 returnable deposit payable to the Club [in surety of performance of repair within 24hrs as below]

3. agreement that user will inspect the boat prior to use and certify ANY damage, scratches etc., BEFORE use on the register

4. agreement that user will inspect the boat after use and either certify damage free by signing the register or reporting any damage in writing and on the register

5. making good any such damage as soon as pracitically possible ie within 24 hours either in person by filling and painting cracks [see instruction protocol] or by paying for it to be done profeessionally by Alan, Stuart or other suitably qualified persons. If necessary, such a preson should be paid more to effect a quick repair.

6. Written agreement that ANY damage done to the sculler will be paid for by the user up to our insured 'excess' of £500. The club insurance will pay for any above this figure provided there was no negilgent use.

7. Wash and inspect the sculler on each use.

8. Treat it as if it is yours

9. Liaise with all other users and agree a time table of use.
